Why learn Japanese in Kyoto?

A language stay in Kyoto means studying in the city that was Japan's capital for more than a thousand years. Its historic monuments are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, from the golden pavilion of Kinkaku-ji to the temples of Higashiyama. Yet Kyoto is also a big university city, where students cycle along the Kamo River and meet in small cafés.

Kyoto suits culture lovers of every age, students fascinated by traditional Japan and adults who want depth rather than neon. Motivated teenagers can also thrive here on supervised programmes. Many of our partner schools offer general and intensive Japanese courses, and a placement test on arrival puts you straight into the right class.
